I was reading one of my many magazines and came across this great article on a Liberian child refugee turned fashion designer.
Lovetta Conto is a jewelry designer based in Liberia. She was born in Liberia, but fled to Ghana during the war in Liberia. Through help from the Strongheart Fellowship program, she was able to get an education and pursue her passion. After much hardwork, Conto created Akawelle Jewelry. Akawelle means "also known as love". Her necklaces are all made of sterling silver and bullet shells from the war. Check out her story and necklaces here. All proceeds go to Conto's future and The Strongheart Fellowship.
Love when I can buy cute stuff and support a great cause. Double the pleasure!
