This is such exciting news! L.A. is going to host the first African Fashion Week Oct. 10-13, 2012, and I think that is so fabulous! I will definitely be attending some of the events. Soooo, my lovely L.A. readers please come out to support this great week of events. We definitely want this to be an annual event. If you want to purchase tickets, you can do so here. For more information on the AFWLA organization, schedule, and designers, go here.
Here's a little about the week and organization...
"AFWLA will be a multifaceted week-long event that will include exclusive runway shows, industry networking mixers, art exhibitions, and more. The event, scheduled for October 10-13, 2012, will link international partners, business leaders, local buyers, agents, editors, celebrities, and industry insiders to the vibrant fashions that Africa has to offer."
"AFWLA is dedicated to using our platform to raise awareness and impact a social change in Africa. This year, AFWLA is partnering with The MacDella Cooper Foundation as our non-profit beneficiary, a portion of all proceeds generated will go directly to helping this foundation. The MacDella Cooper Foundation (MCF) is a 501c3 international charitable organization dedicated to providing youth, especially orphans and abandoned children, with an education and the basic necessities of food, clothing, and shelter. Their vision is to give as many Liberian children as possible the chance to escape the poverty cycle and grow in the nurturing environment of an MCF Academy, so that they can lead Liberia toward an economically strong and politically stable future."
Hope to see you there!!!
and I'm off and running...
